What looks to be a beautiful classic cuvée, it has real depth and richness as well as full body, lots of meatiness, beef jerky (snap into a Slim Jim!!), blackcurrants, black cherries, ripe tannin and a great finish. It will have 10-15 years of overall longevity.Another rising star, the young Alexander Favier continues to release deep, rich and concentrated Châteauneuf du Papes that have beautiful purity of fruit as well as classic Southern Rhône characters. The 2015s across the board look to be outstanding wines.
The story begins in 1874 when Hippolite Jourdan renames the family estate of 28 hectares "Clos Chante Cigale". In 1936, the appellation Châteauneuf of the pope was declared the first AOC of France and the producers of the appellation were structured accordingly. Paul Jourdan was at the time head of the family property and decided to call it Domaine Chante Cigale.
The Domaine now has a vineyard that extends over more than 40 hectares on the appellation Châteauneuf du pape spread over 45 parcels, exploded on the whole of this exceptional terroir: the diversity of soil and grape varieties allow to d 'elaborate unique wines. The spirit of the domain is ensured by Alexander Favier and his team who assure themselves each step of the production of the wines of the property. The Domaine Chante Cigale is now one of the most important family properties in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. It is now led by Alexandre Favier, who incarnates the 5th generation of winegrowers.

Tasting notes, The Wine Advocate, Robert Parker, rating 87 pointsAs for the red wines, the least expensive is their 2015 Seleccion from Rioja, which is 100% Tempranillo aged in a combination of tank and American and French oak barrels. The wine is soft and easygoing, with attractive tapenade notes intermixed with graphite, black cherry and toasty fruit notes.
Vintage Champagne 2010 Jose Michel Wonderful, fruity and round. Peaches and greengages with a lovely long finish. For the price it is as good as the 80 to 100 mark Vintage Champagne. If this is a special gift you can pick the delivery date after you checkout.Michel's 2010 Brut Special Club is a bend of 50/50 Meunier and barrel fermented Chardonnay from 50-year-old vineyards. The 2010 was disgorged in January 2015 with dosage of seven grams per liter. It's clear and rich on the nose, offering dried fruits and sweet cherries, including the skins. Very delicate and pure on the palate, light and charmingly well balanced, this Cuvée has a well structured and persistent finish. I suppose the 2008 will gain complexity over the years and indeed there is enough substance for development.José Michel is well known for his Pinot Meunier, based in Moussy (Coteaux Sud d'Epernay), which covers 50% of his ten hectares of vines in the Marne valley. Indeed I like his straight and very delicate Pinot Meunier Brut, which is a lovely aperitif but should also ripen very well over a couple of years.
